IS ANYONE OUT THERE? is a week of Columbia College Library programming kicking
off LGBTQ History month in October and exploring the role libraries can play as
a point of resource-sharing, community connection, and creative genesis.

What
I Didn’t Know About Coming Out
Discussion (3rd Floor North)
Columbia and Chicago community students will share and
discuss the resources and media (books, journals, websites, film, music) they find/found helpful in navigating the coming
out experience. The program also explores the role that libraries play in
connecting the community, not only through information and resource sharing, but
as a venue for storytelling, narrative, and personal growth. Selected supporting materials from the
collection will be made available for browsing and check out.
{Tuesday
– 9/29}
LGBT
History Discussion / Lecture (Classroom)
Columbia College Faculty and/or Staff will lead a discussion
about the history, terminology, and evolution of gay culture, supported by
materials from the library’s extensive collection of LGBTQ resources.
