Zines in the Classroom Workshop
Weds. October 11th
6-8pm
4th Floor Lurie Lounge
Zines are often a low-cost, high impact way to help students understand information literacy, digest & process classroom material, and foster self-expression and creative communication—either individually or in collaboration with other students.
Welcoming teachers and instructors at all levels of education, this workshop will begin with a brief history of zines and zine culture, feature a show & tell of a wide variety of zines and approaches, and explore multiple ways to bring zines and zine making into the classroom through exercises and assignments. We will also demo simple zine making & production strategies. (i.e. saddle stapled publications , single page zines, accordion folds, etc.) that can be used to make student zines a reality.
