Cool Things Made With Books | Joseph DeCamillis.

"As a painter of miniatures on copper, Joe found old books the perfect match to narrate and contain his exquisite illuminated images. In 2002 he pushed the extremes of scale creating paintings as small as postage stamps while retaining the precise detail that had become his trademark. Carving niches into old books emphasized the storytelling nature of the work. The books altered through various means, serve as more than just frames. They become dimensional art objects which encourage dialogue to unfold between collaged elements of the book cover’s inherent text (sometimes cleverly rearranged), oil-painted imagery, and carefully selected text additions."
