Call for Panels, Roundtables & More | First Ever Artist & Scholars Colloquium

The Columbia College Library invites panel & roundtable proposlas for our very first Artists & Scholars Colloquium taking place on Saturday April 13th. This years theme is STRANGE FEVERS: MASS DELUSIONS, CONFUSIONS, AND OBSESSIONS. We intend to delve in to the strange world of public madnesses through the lens of art, culture, politics, and entertainment. From propaganda hoaxes to Victorian Spiritualism. Cults to crop circles. Fake news to Sasquatch. Witch hunts to urban legends. Satanic Panic to Beanie Babies.

We are looking for short proposals for panels, roundtables, performances and other discussions that probe and explore these these subjects and more, from the academic to the creative, the scholarly to the irreverent. All subjects listed above are fair game, and we are looking for experts, amateurs. artists and auteurs. (We even like the idea as panel as performance, as art itself.) The Colloquium celebrates our concurrent exhibit, Strange Fevers, and will include an panel devoted to the exhibit, as well as other workshops & fun through the afternoon, including a Weird Science Fair (think your grade school Science Fair with ribbons, but a little stranger..)

E-mail proposals and questions to kbowen@colum.edu.
