Tomorrow Night!

Join the Library and the Aesthetics of Research for our Fall 2017 installment of The Book to Art Club featuring our first title Grimm’s Fairy Tales. Started by the Library As Incubator Project, the Book to Art Club is a book + art-making club that exists virtually and in-person at libraries around the world. a way to find hands-on, creative ways to engage with literature – where the process of art-making is more important than the product!

Because we want as many points of entry as possible for our first go, any edition of the Tales of the Brothers Grimm will do (and the varying illustrations are a bonus!) Stop by the library to check out one of our copies, or get one through interlibrary loan (or scope out the versions of the tales available online.) Each session, we will be exploring a variety of art and craft techniques, culminating in a year’s end collaborative limited edition book arts project.

We will have a wide selection of supplies on hand—paint, markers, colored pencils, paper, collage materials, glue, scissors, etc. and will be doing some brief technique demos to get you started, including collage, printmaking, paper puppets, and book sculptures.

Thursday, February 8th, 6-8 pm, Library 1st Floor
